Sure, you can go out and indulge in some at a restaurant, or you can make them the old-fashioned way, as they were intended: yourself! These gooey, cinnamon, apple-filled delights make for the perfect weekend treat to share with your friends and family alike!
Confused on what an apple dumpling is? Associate the term with meat-filled dumplings you enjoy from your go-to Chinese restaurant? Well, these are a staple dish that originated in North America. Though, no one knows exactly when they came to fruition, fingers are pointed at Dutch settlers in Pennsylvania in early America. This ooey gooey pastry dish is something from dessert dreamland. Mainly served with a cup of milk or a scoop of vanilla ice cream, it hits all the sweet tooth craving stops.

All Aboard Apple Dumpling Recipe
These apple dumplings are simple to make. So, you don’t have to slave away in the kitchen to enjoy a bit of “from heaven” sweet treat.
What You Need –
+ 1.5 Cups Sugar (divided)
+ 2 Cups Water
+ 4 Tablespoons Butter (divided — can also substitute for healthier alternative)
+ .5 teaspoon Ceylon Cinnamon Powder (divided)
+ Pastry Crust (Pillsbury Pastry Dough is fine)
+ 6 apples — peeled and cored
How To Make –
Set your oven to 375 degrees before baking.
+ Make the apple syrup: In a sauce pan, heat 1 cup sugar, the water, 3 tablespoons butter, and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
+ Mix the rest of the sugar, and cinnamon. Cut your pastry dough into squares. Fill the center with the sugar mixture from step 1 and 1/2 tsp butter and an apple. Fold the corners, after moistening with water.
+ Pour syrup on top. Bake for 45 minutes.
+Serve with ice cream, warm.
