Remove Technology From The Equation
Rid your phone and unplug in the morning. Is there anything more distracting than hearing the ping of emails coming in, social notifications buzzing, and friends texting? One minute you’re making breakfast, then you’re grabbing your phone to reply to things. This year make it a priority to cut phone time in the morning. The easiest thing to ensure this happens is to simply turn your phone off when you wake up.
Set Intentions While You Shower
You have alone time when you enter the shower, free from any distractions. Make the most of this cherished time and set your daily intentions. What is priority for you today, think: networking with coworkers, sending a proposal to your boss, helping your kids make something fun after school, speak less/listen more, or practice gratitude. These are just a few of the many intention types you can choose.
Do One Thing That Makes You Happy
This may seem obvious, but most mornings we are in such a rush to get out the door, we never pause and enjoy anything. To help counteract a stressful start to the day, try to do at least one thing that puts a smile on your face. Have a pet? Take a few minutes and play with them.
