Feeling the winter chill in your bones?
Aren’t we all! What better way to warm up than with hot chocolate?
Grab your warmest blanket, throw on that home knit sweater and long wool socks, and curl up with a good book and a mug of this healthy hot chocolate to forget the roaring winter outside…
- 1. Let your dates and chia seeds (if using) soak in ~3/4 cup of almond milk for approximately 20-30 minutes.
- 2. Add to a blender, processor, or bullet with the cocoa powder, rest of the almond milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, salt, and maca powder (if using). Blend until smooth and liquefied.
- 3. Transfer mixture to a saucepan and warm up over medium heat to desired temperature. It’s important that you do not bring it to a boil.
- 4. Serve in your favorite mug and enjoy! If you’re feeling fancy, sprinkle a bit of cinnamon on top, garnish with a mint sprig, or sprinkle a few chia seeds for texture. If you’d like your hot chocolate to be sweeter, mix in some honey or maple syrup!
